An Ounce of Morning is Worth a Pound of Afternoon

Today marks 5 years since I became a morning person and began doing a personal development routine every morning.  You can learn more about that here.

I am so grateful for this daily routine and for how I have been changed for the better because of it.

In honor of this momentous occasion, I thought I’d share things that have reminded me lately of the power of mornings and of having a morning routine where you intentionally work on personal growth and growing stronger spiritually, mentally, intellectually, and physically every day.

“An ounce of morning is worth a pound of afternoon.”  I’m not sure who originally said this, but I love it and I completely agree.

Early Morning by Moritz von Schwind

I love to think back about what I learned last summer about sheep and morning dew.  I wrote about that here.  I loved this so much that I named our morning time (for our homeschool) “Morning Dew Time.”

I recently listened to a podcast episode from Brooke Snow called How to Spiral Up and I loved it (which wasn’t surprising because I love Brooke’s podcast.)  When I listened to this episode, it made me think of my morning routine and how this daily ritual helps me to continually get back on track and how to spiral up.

“We wholeheartedly believe that a daily rhythm of seeking intimacy with God has the power to transform lives.” (YouVersion).  I love this and completely agree.  My daily rhythm of seeking God early in the morning continues to transform me.

I’m so inspired that you have a morning routine. I have an evening one where I write (briefly) in my daily journal (made up of the things the kids have said or done) and then in each of the kids daily journals too. I’m in awe in how you get up early to do your routine. I’m definitely too lazy haha
