Sweden Unit: Sankta Lucia 2019

There is seriously something so peaceful about spending the evening dressed up and celebrating ✨light✨ by the light of the Christmas tree and candles. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite nights of the year.

For dinner, we had homemade Swedish meatballs in creamy gravy, mashed potatoes, lingonberry jam, and green beans.

After dinner, the girls and I put on our Lucia outfits and Porter decided to dress up as a Star Boy and join us in the procession. Roxanne was our main Lucia this year but all 3 of us took turns handing out the Lussekatter (Saffron buns) that the kids and I made today. We also passed out pepparkakor (Swedish ginger cookies) and Landon is the only one that gets his wish (his cookie was the only one that broke into 3 pieces).

The kids all had battery operated candles but I decided to go with real candles this time. Although I only kept the ones on my crown lit for about a minute. Haha.
