Family Proclamation Unit: Gender is an essential characteristic…

Today was our 4th lesson for our Family Proclamation unit.  It was “Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.”

We talked about how our gender is eternal and that both males and females have qualities that are good and necessary to fulfill God’s plan.

Then we acted out the process to becoming a man or a woman.  I gathered some objects to represent baptism/confirmation, getting the priesthood, going on a mission, going to college, getting married, and having kids.  The kids were on teams: Roxanne and Porter and Evelyn and Landon.  They had to jump over each of the objects representing milestones along the path to maturation and then they got dressed up in Jershon’s clothes and my wedding dress (Roxanne refused to wear my wedding dress so she wore a different dress of mine).  Each “couple” pretended to get married and then they had to work together to wrap up a baby in a blanket.  🙂   Landon and Evelyn had the fastest time.
